Bio

Jessica Winn is a professional vocalist, pianist and educator with a true passion for music. She has been studying and performing classical music for over two decades, and has made her mark as a notable mezzo-soprano in the Bay Area classical vocal community.

Her relationship with music started at age 9 with the Contra Costa Children’s Choir and she has maintained her classical vocal studies ever since. Along with her vocal studies, Jessica studied classical piano privately with Keith Snell for 7 years, competing and achieving high marks in regional competitions.

Jessica went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Music at Mannes College of Music in New York City and finished her education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she received her Masters for training in vocal pedagogy and physiology, as well as vocal performance.

She has been maintaining an active voice and piano teaching schedule since 2011, leading her students to high musical achievements in both fields, and is a Master Vocal coach at Acalanes High School. Other teaching experience includes Musical Theater Camp Director for the Heads Up Program at Head Royce in Oakland and Village Center for the Arts, giving private lessons, leading In-School Outreach Programs throughout the Bay Area, and heading their Musical Theater program.

Making her professional vocal debut with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Stephen Montague’s Requiem, Jessica has taken both the operatic and choral stage, performing a vast array of styles and periods from Baroque to Contemporary.

Hailed as a singer with “pure colors” that capture “ethereal qualities” in her performances, Jessica’s performance credits include Opera San Jose, Phenix Opera, Berkeley Chamber Opera, Verismo Opera, West Edge Opera and Marin Baroque. Jessica has also worked as a performer on the east coast, making her professional debut with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in 2011 and with The Manhattan Opera Studio.

She is a fun, patient and passionate teacher whose mission is to pass on the wonderful knowledge and love for music that was instilled in her onto a new group of eager young minds.

FAQ

While the studios are open every day of the week, we can’t all be there all the time. However, most of us are available for lessons on multiple days throughout the week. Our quick online booking process matches your schedule with your instructor’s availability and helps you find the best day and time for your lesson. Want to reserve that day and time every week? Click the “recurring” tab after choosing a day and time. Prefer to book a different date every time? Be our guest. You can even book multiple lessons in advance, each at a different day and time.

Your instrument, a notebook, and a will to rock and roll! A list of songs you like is also a great idea.

We sure can! Introducing you to new ideas, techniques, methods, scales and musical concepts, will help you break out of your rut and regain your long lost enthusiasm. In addition to that, we will make sure you improve gradually from week to week and help you establish a proper practicing regimen. We’ll teach you how to be meticulous about your playing and maybe even show you a secret trick or two ;)

You can definitely borrow, just make sure that you are free to keep it for a while because you will need it to practice at home between lessons. However, in the long run, it’s probably best to own your instrument.

Monthly Lesson Plans

Our monthly lesson plans are designed for committed students who take lessons regularly and would like to reserve the same day and time with their favorite instructor. Missed a lesson? Couldn’t make it this month? No worries! Your unused lessons roll-over from month to month so you will never be charged for lessons that you did not attend (just don’t forget to let us know 48 hours in advance).
